SUMMARY:Business of Design Week 2026 — Design in Dialogue
DESCRIPTION:Business of Design Week (BODW) returns to Hong Kong from 16–21 November 2026 under the theme Design in Dialogue: Connect + Transform. Organised by Hong Kong Design Centre\, the week brings together design\, architecture\, innovation and business through conferences\, forums\, exhibitions\, awards and citywide programmes\, with Switzerland serving as Partner Country for the first time. The 2026 edition is structured around six topic areas spanning reimagined spaces\, regenerative culture and curation\, brand transformation\, artisanal innovation\, longevity\, and future-facing media and education. Its flagship BODW Summit runs from 18–20 November at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre\, while related programmes extend across the city. Event-wide times and admission vary by programme. For architects and designers\, the strongest value lies in the overlap between spatial practice\, design strategy\, cultural production and business. The programme is particularly useful for professionals tracking how design is being positioned as a tool for institutional\, urban and commercial transformation across Asian and European contexts. ArchUp PerspectiveBODW is most relevant to architects\, designers\, creative directors and researchers working across disciplines. Its value is strongest in the summit and cross-sector dialogue; visitors seeking a conventional product fair should treat it as a broader design and ideas platform rather than a sourcing event.

SUMMARY:Ithra Design Week 2026 — Redesigning the Default
DESCRIPTION:Ithra Design Week returns to Dhahran in November 2026 with a six-day program exploring design as a tool for questioning inherited systems and shaping new possibilities. Under the theme Redesigning the Default\, the event brings together designers\, studios\, thinkers and institutions from Saudi Arabia\, the region and abroad. Across the week\, visitors can move between exhibitions\, commissioned installations\, workshops\, masterclasses\, design challenges\, interactive sessions and public conversations. The program also includes the Design Majlis\, a design market and the Day With an Expert format\, creating different points of entry for professionals\, students and the wider public. The 2026 theme asks what designers choose to change when familiar defaults no longer serve their purpose. Rather than treating design only as product or appearance\, the program frames it as a process of inquiry\, experimentation and deliberate transformation. General access is available to all age groups\, while selected workshops and specialist programs have separate participation requirements.

SUMMARY:HIX Europe 2026
DESCRIPTION:HIX Europe 2026 (Hotel Interiors Experience) will take place on November 25–26\, 2026\, at ExCeL London\, bringing together leading professionals and brands from across the international hospitality design industry. Developed as the evolution of the former Sleep & Eat trade show\, HIX Europe has established itself as a highly curated platform dedicated to the future of hotel interiors and guest experiences. \nRather than following a traditional trade-show format\, HIX Europe is designed as an immersive design campus\, creating an environment where hospitality brands can connect directly with architects\, interior designers\, developers\, hotel operators\, and industry decision-makers. The event combines product discovery\, creative installations\, networking\, and industry insight within a design-focused setting. \nThe 2026 edition reflects the latest shifts in hospitality design\, including invisible wellness\, sensory architecture\, natural materials\, and location-driven design. Wellness is increasingly integrated directly into hotel architecture through elements such as circadian lighting\, acoustic planning\, and optimized airflow\, while tactile finishes and natural materials create calmer and more immersive environments. \nAnother important direction is the growing emphasis on local identity and authenticity. Designers are increasingly incorporating regional craftsmanship\, locally inspired colors\, materials\, and cultural narratives to create hotels that feel connected to their surroundings rather than interchangeable with properties elsewhere. \nHIX Europe takes place alongside the AHEAD Europe Awards\, creating a wider celebration of excellence and innovation in hospitality design. Together\, the events provide a platform for the industry to discover emerging trends\, exchange ideas\, showcase products\, and recognize outstanding hotel projects. \nWith its focus on innovation\, hospitality\, interiors\, materials\, wellness\, and experiential design\, HIX Europe 2026 offers an important meeting point for the professionals shaping the next generation of hotels and guest experiences across Europe and beyond.

SUMMARY:Madinah International Architecture Festival 2026 (MIAF 2026)
DESCRIPTION:The first edition of the Madinah International Architecture Festival (MIAF 2026) takes place from 9–12 December 2026 at the King Salman International Convention Center in Madinah. Organised by the Madinah Region Development Authority under the patronage of HRH Prince Salman bin Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud\, Governor of Al-Madinah Region\, the festival is framed by the theme Shaping the Future of Cities and brings together architects\, international design firms\, developers and industry experts. The programme opens with a Gala Dinner on 9 December. On 10 December\, the Madinah International Architecture Forum includes the announcement of the winners of an international design ideas competition associated with the festival. The Architecture Firms Exhibition and Madinah Urban Pavilion run from 10–12 December\, while AI in Architecture workshops are scheduled for 11–12 December. Madinah gives the festival a particularly relevant urban setting. The central area around Al-Masjid an-Nabawi has long been governed by dedicated building controls covering massing\, heights\, setbacks\, and facade materials and colours. More recent public-space projects have focused on humanising streets around the central area through pedestrian movement\, shade\, planting\, seating and improved visitor access. The city also established what the Madinah Region Development Authority describes as Saudi Arabia’s first local urban observatory. ArchUp PerspectiveFor a first edition\, MIAF 2026 has a strong architectural premise because the host city itself can function as part of the discussion. Madinah offers a live case study in heritage-sensitive regulation\, high-intensity visitor movement\, public-realm design and the ongoing negotiation between sacred urban identity and contemporary growth.

SUMMARY:Light + Intelligent Building Middle East 2027
DESCRIPTION:Light + Intelligent Building Middle East brings together architectural lighting\, electrical engineering\, building automation\, integrated AV and digital-signage systems within a professional trade setting. The 2027 edition marks the event’s twentieth edition and covers seven product sectors alongside live demonstrations and technical workshops. The programme includes THINKLIGHT\, which examines lighting design through built projects\, and the Smart Building Summit\, focused on more efficient and connected buildings. The exhibition is intended for professionals working across design\, specification\, engineering\, operations and technology procurement. ArchUp PerspectiveThe event is most useful for architects\, lighting designers\, MEP consultants\, automation specialists and specifiers comparing systems for active projects. Its value is primarily technical and procurement-oriented\, so it is a lower priority for visitors seeking architecture discourse without a product or building-technology focus.
