About the Role

The post holder will act as the QMUL designer and deliver first class projects. You will ensure effective and efficient design output from inception to completion, meeting or exceeding briefs, budget control and delivery of quality products.

The post-holder will provide technical support within the Projects Office on a wide range of projects through the production of CAD drawings, graphics, calculations, technical detailing, surveys; for design sign-offs, statutory approvals, contractor procurement and construction operations. To assist Project Managers with the preparation and management of Projects, from inception to final account.

You will be responsible for the design and supervision of a range of Projects/Programmes (typically straightforward in nature) up to £500,000 in value, including construction, refurbishment and maintenance projects as well as delivering larger alterations/refurbishment projects as part of a newly formed internal design team.

About You

You will have the ability to provide design support to a wider team of project managers including the preparation of outline concept designs as well as technical details and information for construction. The ability to compile simple specifications for construction alteration and refurbishment projects and be familiar with the National Building Specification.

You will have the ability to think commercially and strategically – quickly assess and quantify short and long term impact of changes, deal with ambiguity and uncertainty and be able to evaluate options to meet business expectations and provide maximum value. Possess a degree or relevant diploma or have equivalent relevant experience in Architecture / Design / Building Construction. Knowledge of the design process, and reasonable knowledge of construction project management and contract administration, supported by demonstrable experience in the design of construction and refurbishment projects up to £500k in value.

The post is based across all campuses in London. It is full time (35 hours per week), permanent appointment, with an expected start date of within 3 months. The starting salary will be in the range of £34,733 – £40,797 per annum inclusive of London Allowance.
