Salary: UH7 £35,333 pro rata, per annum to £42,155 pro rata, per annum by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience
Location: College Lane Campus, Hatfield
Main duties and responsibilities
You will be required to develop and deliver skill-related modules that include digital technologies and software relevant to interior design and architecture. You will be the main point of contact for students to learn a range of CAD skills including visual communication and presentation, and to encourage student engagement in the subject.
As a part of the job, you are expected to develop the skills in the programme to higher educational standard and subject specific materials including assignment briefs, module delivery plans, teaching and learning resources and undertake assessment. You will have good knowledge of subject specific pedagogy strategies in the design field and provide a flexible learning experience in line with the University’s Herts Learning principles.
You will work closely with programme leaders and other colleagues to ensure coherence and relevance of teaching and learning, while develop external and internal contacts and networks appropriate to the subject. Similarly, you will contribute to pastoral care of students through module leadership and the Personal Tutor Framework.
Skill and experience required
The successful candidate you will have substantial teaching experience in HE including digital skills (CAD, CAM, 3D modelling), software and/or digital fabrication. You will have experience of module leadership, assignment design and development, and assessment, as well as in curriculum development experience; teaching planning experience. As an academic, proven experience and or a professional designer with an industry background is desirable.
As your job will include teaching skills and digital skills to students, you are expected to have an in-depth knowledge of design software packages, the ability to develop teaching and learning resources, deliver lectures, seminars, workshops and tutorials and be flexible in your pedagogical approach in line with the Herts Learning principles. You should also be able to demonstrate your ability to identify and develop a broad, stimulating and inspirational curriculum; able to relate to a diverse student group.
Qualifications required
A minimum of an undergraduate qualification in Design, Architecture or related subjects is essential.
Educated with a Postgraduate qualification, teaching qualification or Research degree would be desirable.
Fellowship of AdvanceHE (formerly the HEA) is desirable
