Transforming lives through excellent education

London Met is an extraordinary institution. Equity and social inclusion have always been our driving principles, and it’s what makes the University so unique. Our organisation is distinctive, both in its eclectic and diverse community of students and staff, and also for its historical role in serving some of London’s most deprived boroughs. Everything we do is underpinned by our philosophy that an individual should have the opportunity to transform their life through the power of education.

Equipping our students with the tools for their future is at the heart of our academic offering. We pride ourselves on providing our students with access to a wealth of opportunities and professions. Our graduates benefit personally, but also contribute their unique perspectives to society, culture, public service and the economy in all areas of London, the UK and around the world.

This is your opportunity to contribute to the launch of the new School of the Built Environment at London Met. The creation of the school is in response to the demands from local, national, and international employer organisations. The school promises to transform the lives of its students and be a catalyst for social equality through offering a portfolio of courses which focus on their gaining access to industry focussed education which will prepare them for graduate level employment and professional body membership.

Do you have a background in construction project management? Would you like an opportunity to use your extensive construction knowledge and experience in an academic career? We are looking for ambitious academics and practitioners with industry experience in construction project management who are looking for the next challenge in their careers and would relish the opportunity to join our new School. Ideally, the postholder will be professionally qualified in a relevant professional body such as the RICS, CIOB or APM.

This post is situated within the School of the Built Environment, based at our Holloway Road campus. Over the next few years, we will be launching several taught programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level in the construction, real estate and surveying subject areas.

Currently we are seeking to develop our expertise in the subject area of construction project management and are looking for a person to join our team who has academic or industry experience and expertise, in 3 or more of the following areas:

  • Strategic and Operational Construction Project Management
  • Construction Project Planning and Control
  • Construction Project Risk Management
  • Construction Contract and Commercial Management

You will have gained this experience and expertise through your wide and significant engagement in construction projects, within either public or private practice, or through your substantial proven teaching and research experience in this field.

We expect the post holder to possess sufficient experience and expertise, industry, academic or a blend of both, to be capable of developing engaging and inclusive teaching and assessment. The postholder will lead and support in the delivery of modules in these subject areas. In addition, the post holder will be involved in the pastoral tutoring of students and supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
