The Salford’s Acoustics Research Centre is one of the largest acoustics groups in Europe. 
The Acoustics Research Centre has state-of-the-art equipment and facilities to conduct psychoacoustics research including a series of listening rooms designed for specialised critical listening, with acoustic treatment to ensure compliance with ITU standards. These listening rooms are optimised for listening tests on loudspeakers to BS 6840-13 / IEC 268-13, and is equipped with state-of-the-art multi-channel spatial audio systems such as ITU standard layouts and Ambisonic reproduction setups, and augmented and virtual reality systems.

What will the role involve?

The purpose of the post is to assist Investigators and post-doctoral researchers in the Future Homes Project to conduct acoustic research in ASHP noise and building acoustics.

The post will involve experimental work, such as acoustic measurements following standards for sound power level, sound propagation, transmission loss through barriers, sound insulation of building elements.  It will also involve the processing of acoustic signals, and acoustic simulations.

The post holder may also be required to assist staff, students and researchers with student projects and research from time to time.

The contract is fixed term until 31st March 2025, although possibilities for extending will be explored during the tenure of the role depending on research income.

Interviews will take place in the week commencing 22nd May 2023.
