Overview

The Sheffield School of Architecture is making a strong commitment to strengthening its learning and teaching through investment in key areas. As part of this investment, we wish to appoint a University Teacher to support our research-led teaching delivery.

You will have RIBA Part 2 or equivalent and will be able to demonstrate expertise in architectural design and its broader implications and relevance to society. You will contribute to studio teaching and will be expected to play a leading role in developing the School’s pedagogy in important areas including architectural and urban design futures, liveness, and climate change. We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise in architectural design and with experience in environment and technology teaching.

You will be able to demonstrate a commitment to architectural education and academic scholarship, and a broad portfolio of practice and/or scholarly activity. As a future member of the School of Architecture you will be working closely with colleagues to develop your research and scholarship. This will include developing collaborations with national and international partners, presenting at key fora, disseminating scholarship and research using a variety of media to target a wider audience and generating impact. A willingness to engage in knowledge exchange with non-academic organisations to develop research and impact is also a priority.

You will have the strong interpersonal skills necessary to deliver an excellent student experience. You will join a large and diverse group of research and teaching staff and will have the enthusiasm and commitment to actively contribute to our academic environment.

Our website offers more information about all aspects of the department’s/school’s activity. Please see www.sheffield.ac.uk/architecture for more details.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
