oblié: returning to a forgotten space
Sealed away in a ‘forgotten’ Milanese apartment, Dimoremilano‘s Oublié exhibition shows for Milan Design Week 2022. The collection comprises contemporary furniture, textiles, and lighting designed by the brand’s founders Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran. The historic second floor apartment is said to ‘evoke a return after a long journey,’ while the installation presents ‘a rediscovery through everyday furnishings and accessories, finally liberated from the patina of time passed far from curious eyes.’
The exhibition will be on view in Milan until June 12th, 2022 at Via Solferino, 11.

dimoremilano curates a hazy memory
Dimoremilano (see more here) curates its Oublié exhibition in Milan as a dreamlike space ‘where time stands still.’ Inside the dim, hazy spaces, soft rays of light are cast through half-closed shutters. The atmosphere provokes a sense of curiosity as visitors are invited to discover the new furnishings with white fabrics, and to open doors to cabinets and dressers which hold new textile ranges carefully folded within.
A white veil shrouds a lighting fixture, but with its transparency instead emphasizes the details beneath ‘as if preparing the public to hear precious, intimate confessions.’

a journey of discovery in milan
Dimoremilano’s exhibition at Milan Design Week (see more here) softly illuminates the dream-like space, as if it had long been abandoned and is now gently awakening. The lighting fixtures, such as the Belle de Jour table lamps, the Oriente lighting fixtures and the Abatjour lamp, re-establish contact with the present, ‘accompanying the visitors on their journey of discovery.’ The carpets, semi-rolled to preserve their state, reveal hints of the new geometries and colors that are now iconic for the brand.
Nestled away among the courtyards of Milan, a terrace reveals itself. Even the lush, overgrown vegetation is wrapped in white organza, ‘as though to preserve it against the colder seasons.’

intimate glimpses into a past life
The team at Dimoremilano meticulously curates the atmosphere through all senses — a turntable plays classical music and jazz to instill an intimate glimpse into the past, and into the life of the apartment’s owner after many years.
Concrete, carpet and linoleum cover the floor: unusually combined materials, creating dynamism and character. The Parallelo and Millepiedi tables with the Razionalista chairs seem ever ready to host dinners and chats. The collection combines brass, steel, and leather with the warm colors of fabrics, creating a clear contrast of sensations and emotions. The geometries of the fabrics sway to the rhythm of the music that the turntable continues to play in an intimate dance between visitor and home.
