Interior design is both a science and an art; it’s more than defining curtains and cushions that tie together.

It is the job of the interior designer to shape those feelings or sensations in a positive direction, which makes the person, want to spend time in the room.
To do this, interior designers may use some artistic methodologies that reshape how we perceive interior spaces.
Empty spaces
The space of spaces is an indispensable thing in design, as the idea of interior design revolves around how to design interior spaces.

There are two types of spaces:
Negative space: The empty space that gives rooms an inclusive and open feel.

Lines

There are three main types of lines: (horizontal – vertical – moving).
If you want a more secure, comfortable and stable feel, horizontal lines are a must.
On the other hand, vertical lines make spaces look airy and cool.
Horizontal lines
Horizontal lines can be used to create a sense of calm and serenity in your room.
It establishes spaces and makes them appear more spacious,
but if this element is too present, your space can become dull.
Vertical lines
Vertical lines draw your eyes upward. If your home has stunning tin ceiling tiles,
a good interior designer will incorporate vertical lines that subconsciously raise your eyes to accentuate this feature.
However, if vertical lines are used frequently, it may cause people to feel trapped.
Dynamic lines
These lines indicate movement and stimulation, as they are active and encourage your eyes to “move” in the direction of the line or notice a pattern.
Squiggly, angular, and curved lines fall into this category, each providing a different movement or effect on the feel of the room.
The Squiggly and angular lines give the room energy and life, while smooth,
squiggly lines enhance softness and balance.
The shape
Any set of lines produces a shape called a pattern. If the lines are horizontal, vertical, or dynamic, they generate a group of shapes.
These shapes can either be geometric (angular) or typographic (curvilinear), and they can also be open or closed.
Your interior designer can mix and match shapes to achieve any months you want in your home,
but only if he or she has a solid understanding of your style.
Whether it’s earthy, modern, warm, cool, or whatever you like.
The pattern
A style is a collection of lines and patterns, making it part of the “linear” family of elements along with a figure.
Patterns may accentuate a specific part of your home, whether it’s the ceiling, stairs, or walls.
You can achieve this effect by using bold wallpaper or a loud color on the wall.
