Mobilis obtains its building and environmental permits

With a nod to the motto from the novel by Jules Verne, the Mobilis project was born, nestled at the crossroads of Boulevard Industriel and Boulevard Paepsem in Anderlecht. It is, in every sense of the word, the cornerstone of an ambitious vision in which flexibility, innovation and sustainability are central themes. The 10,400 m² site will be a daring, energy-neutral mixed-use urban project with a total surface area of 35,000 m². D’Ieteren Immo’s certification ambition is to achieve the “outstanding” qualification. In addition to the “garage of the future of Volkswagen, SEAT and Skoda”, the project will house up to and including the roof a multitude of urban industries, production activities and commercial functions in a broad sense.

In November 2018, D’Ieteren Immo had launched an architectural competition in collaboration with the BMA. At the end of this competition, the winning team XDGA – BOYDENS – UTIL translated the ambitions into an innovative concept and a concrete plan.

At the end of 2020, the authorities of the Brussels-Capital Region elected the project among the eight winners (circular projects) at the prestigious Be Circular competition. Not only was the current building dismantled in a circular way, but it was above all the construction concept made to last 100 years and the demountable platforms that caught the attention of the jury. This innovative thinking still allows to easily adapt the spaces within the building according to the evolution of the needs related to the activities, an approach that is fully in line with the long-term vision of D’Ieteren Immo.

For the Mobilis project, D’Ieteren Immo had submitted its permit applications at the end of 2019 to the Brussels Capital Region. With their granting, all the lights are on green for the construction of this visionary building. In the meantime, the company did not waste any time and decided, after an intense and instructive period, to enter into a partnership with Alheembouw to erect this building.
