Moon: a conceptual coffee maker

Moon is a conceptual coffee maker created by Roee Ben Yehuda. It maintains a compact form and a lovely personality while incorporating the steampunk look of traditional espresso makers.

‘Moon’ is a creative, one-of-a-kind coffee maker by Israel-based Roee Ben Yehuda. It features the steampunk design of conventional espresso makers while preserving a compact shape and charming character. Unlike capsule machines that brew coffee with the push of a button.

He is a multi-talented artist who expertly crafts both useful and attractive products that seamlessly meld traditional and modern design.

“As a maker, I’ve discovered that crafts attract me, and I value information that earlier generations have passed down to us as well as the traditions it contains. I also like skilled manual manufacturing.

While effortlessly blending natural materials and cutting-edge technologies, I also want my work to be upbeat, funny, and create a welcoming environment, adds Yehuda.

Since coffee makers are now a common household device, they have significantly changed in appearance from the industrial espresso makers.

‘How can I incorporate my love for mechanical as well as tactile-looking things with a clean, current look?’ That was all I could think about when I sat down to settle on my concept.

When the entire procedure of making coffee is simplified to a capsule and a button press, Yehuda continues, “I’ve always been fascinated with those gigantic chrome machines that almost appear like a miniature lab.

This is how Moon was created. He was inspired by these massive chrome equipment as well as the science involved in brewing the perfect beverage.

This minimalistically curved, small-scale prototype with enticing colors was created using 3D modeling and rapid tests in polyurethane foam. It has many of the same qualities as the original steampunk brewers.
