By repurposing commonplace items as musical instruments, Playtronica Studio aims to expand musical education and develop interactive experiences.

Playtronica, a studio and collective with offices in Berlin and Moscow that was founded in 2014, creates meaningful interactive audio experiences by integrating touch, sound, and technology. Playtronica, a company founded by theatre producer Sasha Pas, employs interactive art to immerse people in a distinctive reality where commonplace objects take on a new identity that encourages us to consider a different relationship with the environment.

Additionally, Playtronica transforms any conductive object into MIDI controller buttons, pre-set sceneries, and instrument configurations, allowing us to easily enter the world of musical creation with a sense of youthful wonder.

Furthermore, playtronica has been able to work with international brands, marketers, museums, galleries, and artists including Nike, IKEA, and Mercedes by utilizing these distinctive and significant experiences.

Play is essential to understanding how the natural and artificial may coexist peacefully, according to Playtronica, because interaction breaks down barriers. This leads to incredible experiences that rekindle our love of making music with commonplace materials.

Who makes up the Playtronica staff? How did everything start?

Sasha Pas: “It all begins with the notion that anything may be interactive and musical. All we have to do is choose what to play with. With an emphasis on the human experience, technology should be kept simple.

Moreover, theatre producer Sasha Pas started Playtronica, and more recently, creative technologist Andrey Manirko and composer Olga Maximova joined. Aglaya Demidenko invented the gadgets, and Vincent De Malherbe organized the Playtronica events and exhibitions. The business is headquartered in Paris and has offices in Berlin and Moscow.

Why concentrate on interactive musical experiences?

Sasha Pas: “Since working in the theater, I’ve been playing with technology, creating immersive performances, fusing several senses, and mixing set design, sounds, lights, acting, costumes, and the text. However, a good story goes beyond a literary or musical narrative. It uses a variety of modalities. Even odors and tactile sensations should each have their role to perform. The objective is to broaden our senses and achieve a greater knowledge of people and ideas.

Through the use of music, play, and creative possibility, Playtronica seeks to provide memorable moments. How can you accomplish this?

By Sasha Pas “We blend sound and touch. Anything can be a musical controller thanks to our products Playtron and TouchMe. That calls for a brand-new method of emotional communication that may involve a pen, a chair, or a pillow, as well as a room or a busy city market. It doesn’t matter to Playtronica; what matters is a novel scenario of interaction with that object.

Moreover, it is no longer a part of the previous binary universe. We cordially invite you to the new hypersensitive world, where everything is audible. even the body itself. Furthermore, the manifesto of Jay Silver pretty much served as my inspiration. Why should we create musical samplers or a piano out of hula hoops? It is a maker mentality. It arrives to change the way that industrial production and education are now viewed. Making meaning is what matters, not making things.

Can you explain to us what happens during your workshops and where they often take place? Great businesses like Nike, Timberland, Mercedes, Lexus, IKEA, Lush, Shiseido, Hermes, Google, and Oracle all highly value your seminars.

Every time we approach a brand or a product, Sasha Pas says, “we consider it as a fresh instrument. People tune to the music the instrument can produce. Additionally, we urge the audience to take in, participate in, and arrange the symphony of this specific thing or idea.

We began by doing brief sessions on improvised and unconventional music compositions. The current emphasis is on sound design and museum installations, but the idea of how sound affects how we feel and perceive things still fascinates me.

What is Playtronica’s next move?

Sasha Pas: “This period in history is intriguing. We are working on a brand-new Playtronica product, a color sequencer that will play sounds, in thrilling collaboration with designer Axel Bluhme and engineer Steffen Sennert. We areparticipating in multisensory experiments, investigating tools geared toward sensory engineering and design, techniques that, for instance, can help to unlock synesthesia.

In addition, we are working on a research project to develop a sensory space for one of the brand-new museums in Moscow. In fact, it is a special area to improve accessibility and inclusion for guests who require special services. The room will be furnished to stimulate the senses of hearing, sight, touch, and scent, so that the next time you visit the museum, all of your senses will be gratified. It is also a learning area for embodiment activities.
