Postdoctoral Research Associate in Sustainable Building Design and Thermal Modelling Grade 7

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research associate (PDRA) position within the the Changing Streams Research Centre based in the School of Environmental Sciences (UoL), UK. The position is for an industry-funded project developed and managed by Dr Gareth Abrahams. Funding is available for 12 months. The position is open with immediate effect and is anticipated to commence on the 3rd October 2022. The PDRA will work alongside Dr Abrahams from the School of Environmental Science and Dr Finnegan from the School of Architecture to assist them in researching and developing design proposals for 6 prototype affordable housing units. These prototypes will aim to develop a novel approach to carbon and plastic reduced housing in the sector. The PDRA will focus on carbon reduction and will be responsible for developing detailed thermal models and testing design detailing in terms of thermal efficiency. The PDRA will work alongside other researchers and academics in Liverpool as well as engaging with industry funders and the not-for-profit company Changing Streams CIC (see https://www.changingstreams.org). The successful applicant will fit into one of two profiles: (i) An academic with a PhD in a building energy related discipline and have a track-record of publishing peer-reviewed research articles in this or associated fields. (ii) A practitioner with a masters’ degree and extensive practice experience in the field of thermal modelling undertaking projects on complex sustainable schemes.
