The South Saad Al Abdullah City Project is one of the largest housing projects in Kuwait. It aims to meet the increasing demand for housing and provide an integrated living environment that fulfills citizens’ needs.

The project is located southwest of Kuwait City and covers an area of approximately 59 square kilometers. South Saad Al Abdullah Project aims to develop between 25,000 and 40,000 housing units, making it one of the largest residential projects in the country.

Design and Infrastructure

The city is designed according to modern urban planning standards and is expected to be the first smart city in Kuwait, including:

  • Residential units divided into plots and houses with modern architectural designs.
  • Commercial outlets, mosques, shopping centers, restaurants, cafés, and various service facilities.

Contracts and Implementing Companies

In March 2025, Kuwait’s Public Authority for Housing Welfare signed contracts worth 261.7 million Kuwaiti Dinars (approximately $847.47 million) with local and international companies to implement the city’s infrastructure.
Among these, China Gezhouba Group signed two contracts for South Saad Al Abdullah City worth $557 million for infrastructure works.

Timeline and Completion Percentage

The Public Authority for Housing Welfare expects to complete the city’s infrastructure by November 2027. By November 2024, the South Saad Al Abdullah City project had reached a completion rate of 13.042%, showing steady progress in line with the scheduled timeline.
