Portugal, a nation around the size of Korea, set out for the Atlantic Ocean in the early 15th century to seek refuge from the European powers due to its inferior geographical and economic situation. As a result of Portugal’s challenge, other European nations including Spain, England, and France soon traveled to the ocean and began charting new sea routes that led to geographical discoveries. One of the most significant historical occurrences, it has had a profound effect on the development of human civilisation from modern times to the present.
Today, as humanity enters the age of the technological singularity, it faces unforeseen and significant obstacles including resource depletion, environmental degradation, and community collapse that go along with tremendous advances in science and technology. Now is the time to find a different path forward for humanity’s sustainability.
This competition is based on the understanding that the position faced by Portugal in the 15th century. When they had to set out into the open sea in search of a new continent. Perhaps the dilemma faced by mankind today. The search for new places by humanity has started, but it is extremely risky. Everyone has had an imaginary connection to the “universe” at some point throughout their infancy.
This resembles the hegemonism between great powers or between powerful companies of the 15th and 16th centuries and is evolving into a conflict for resources and territories. The phrase “space age” will soon have a significant impact on our daily lives and won’t just be something that shows up in cartoons or movies, which is what’s most crucial. What can architecture discuss and prepare for at this time when humanity is ready for a new journey?
We envision many near-future possibilities about the changes we will have to make before the space era arrives. Rather than the far-off future of the space age.
By deciding on one of them based on a logical and scientific viewpoint. We hope to foresee changes in architecture as we get ready for a new journey.
One of the oldest professions in human history is architecture, although it differs from other professions. Like technology or other forms of industry that change with the times quickly. In other words, unlike IT or BIO, architecture is a latecomer business. As a result, new technologies are progressively introduced into the realm of architectural space when they are recognized for application within the social system at the appropriate time. Because of this, focusing primarily on architectural characteristics while considering near-future situations. It may result in a limited understanding of the issues.
As a result, it is advised to use the convergence of many industries to discover your own solution. It is preferable to avoid limiting problem awareness by adopting a “Cross Industry” perspective. Participants are able to choose and customize a hypothetical or actual venue and setting to accentuate their views if there isn’t a predetermined site or situation. The program may also be freely delivered by participants with justification.
I hope you all join us on this new journey with dreams and hopes. I embrace Professor Carl Sagan’s dream, the author of “Cosmos,” that the cosmos will transform into a new ocean for humanity that can be peacefully shared (cosmopolitanism).
