With the rapid development of manual tools, many design problems have also emerged. In the field of household hand tools, safety problems often occur due to improper operation. More and more female and young users also use hand tools in their daily lives. At present, the design of hand tools is mainly aimed at male users, and their ergonomic size and appearance design are not friendly to users with less power such as women and teenagers. Existing household hand tools still have the problem of too many types and easy to lose in design. The universal design concept means that the product design and environmental considerations are a creative design concept for all users as far as possible.
This design combines the general design concept to try to simplify the household hand tool set by investigating the frequency of use of various tools in the household hand tool category, and solve the problems of cumbersome types, troublesome storage, and bloated size. The structural improvement design of various types of tools is aimed at women and teenagers who are less powerful users, so that they can achieve the purpose of improving ease of use and safety.
Traditional hand tools are prone to injury when they are inexperienced, and invalid accessories are cumbersome, and their use experience is not friendly to female users.
By analyzing the appearance and modeling elements of common objects, we can understand:
The styling elements of high-risk items usually include: acute-angled triangles, slender bars and other elements with sharp shapes. Such styling elements are easy to create dangerous styling semantics.
The modeling elements of objects with lower risk are: round, rounded rectangle, ellipse and irregular rounded shape elements. Such styling elements are easy to create a friendly and low-risk styling semantics.
The feasibility analysis of the scheme is carried out through a large number of simple models.
The design can be summarized from the following three aspects：
Consult a large amount of literature, understand the background and current situation of household hand tools, and understand the types and characteristics of existing household hand tools. The safety of household hand tools is analyzed and investigated, and the common points of household hand tools that cause safety problems are summarized, as well as the intuitive feelings of different modeling semantics.
In the form of questionnaires and user interviews, I learned about the needs of less powerful users such as women and adolescents for household manual tools, such as modeling semantics, usage scenarios, and materials. After analyzing and drawing corresponding conclusions, this conclusion is of great help to the design scheme.
After completing the design research, design and conceive household hand tools based on general design concepts, aiming to improve safety, ease of use, abandon cumbersome parts with low usage, and abandon the indifference of a single functional realization And the shape and color without emotional expression, reflect the affinity of tools, create an atmosphere of “easy to use”, and reflect the humanized design of household hand tools.
