SUMMARY:Sharjah Architecture Triennial 2026–2027
DESCRIPTION:The third edition of the Sharjah Architecture Triennial (SAT03) will take place from November 14\, 2026\, to April 14\, 2027\, across multiple venues and historic sites in Sharjah\, United Arab Emirates. Titled Architecture Otherwise: Building Civic Infrastructure for Collective Futures\, the triennial is curated by Vyjayanthi Rao\, with Tau Tavengwa serving as Associate Curator. Bringing together 32 international participants\, SAT03 explores how architecture and community-led spatial practices can respond to social\, political\, and environmental challenges while creating more inclusive and collective futures. The program places particular emphasis on the Global South\, with a focus on West Asia\, South Asia\, and Africa. Through site-specific installations\, films\, public workshops\, live performances\, and research archives\, the triennial transforms Sharjah’s historic and contemporary spaces into platforms for dialogue\, experimentation\, and exchange. Participating practices and collectives include ABARI\, Megawra Built Environment Collective in collaboration with RIWAQ\, People’s Architecture Office\, and Torolab. SAT03 offers a thought-provoking exploration of architecture beyond conventional buildings\, highlighting its potential as a form of civic infrastructure that connects communities\, preserves cultural knowledge\, and imagines new possibilities for collective life.
