SUMMARY:Verner Panton: Form\, Colour\, Space
DESCRIPTION:Overview\nThe Vitra Design Museum presents a major exhibition at the Schaudepot to mark the 100th birthday of Danish architect and designer Verner Panton who lived from 1926 until 1998. Panton created his unique design style which revolutionized furniture and lighting and textiles and sculptures and architectural spaces and interior design elements. His designs between the Panton Chair and Visiona II installation from 1970 still shape design trends from both the post-war era and modern times. The exhibition presents his work in two parts which combine chronological organization with thematic exploration to show the historical background of his work and the changes that occurred during postwar times and the introduction of new materials and production methods and the Space Age. \nExhibition Highlights\n\nChronological and thematic presentation of key works\, including the Panton Chair (c. 1956–1967) and Visiona II installation (1970).\nWalk-in reconstruction of the legendary 1970 Fantasy Landscape\, showcasing Panton’s understanding of space and immersive environments.\nDisplay of lesser-known architectural projects and design explorations.\nObjects\, drawings\, models\, and archival materials from the extensive Verner Panton Collection at Vitra Design Museum.\nExhibition created in close collaboration with Verner Panton Design AG\, ensuring authenticity and approval for all works displayed.\n\nDetails\n\n\n\nDates\n23 May 2026 – 09 May 2027\n\n\nVenue\nVitra Design Museum\, Schaudepot\n\n\nAddress\nCharles-Eames-Str. 2\, 79576 Weil am Rhein\, Germany\n\n\nType\nExhibition\n\n\nOrganizers\nVitra Design Museum\n\n\nFees\nTo be confirmed on the official Vitra Museum website\n\n\n\n✦ ArchUp Editorial Insight\nThe exhibition which displays Verner Panton’s work shows his method of testing spatial and material design through different experimental techniques.
