The Japanese firm Nikken Sekkei is almost finished with One Za’abeel, a pair of skyscrapers and a 230-meter-long World’s longest cantilever, in Dubai. These construction photographs show the project in progress.

The complex is nearly finished in the construction photos that One Za’abeel released, and it features The Link. A record-breaking skybridge that spans a six-lane highway.

“World’s longest cantilever” is how one of the construction companies involved in the project, Mace, describes the steel and glass bridge.

Measuring 235 meters in height, the smaller of the two buildings that flank it is only 16 meters shorter. At 305 meters, the tallest of the two structures is a supertall skyscraper.

By the end of this month, Nikken Sekkei is expected to have completed One Za’abeel officially. It is believed that this landmark would serve as a reminder of Dubai as it is among the first buildings that visitors arriving from the airport will see.

The entire length of The Link is filled with an infinite pool. Along with retail and recreational spaces, the horizontal structure will house a variety of restaurants.

These services are a part of the complex’s larger mixed-use plan. It also includes calls for the inclusion of lodging, motels, and offices.

As per Nikken Sekkei, One Za’abeel’s “iconic design strikes a clear departure from the existing buildings around it”.

Nikken Sekkei created One Za’abeel for developer Ithra Dubai. In 2020, the striking cantilever over the highway was raised and installed over the active roadway.

This project is not Dubai’s first record-breaking structure. In addition, the city is home to the world’s tallest structure, the 828-meter-tall Burj Khalifa, which was finished in 2010 to a design by architect Adrian Smith while he was employed at the architecture company SOM.
