Competition: Conceptual urban-architectural solution for cites-listed animals and the zoo in Berane

A competition for the conceptual urban-architectural solution of the center for the acceptance of cites-listed animals and the zoo with the associated contact zone has been launched in Berane, Montenegro.

In 2022, the Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning, and Urbanism announced an international Competition for the conceptual urban-architectural design of the Center for the reception of animals from the CITES list and the ZOO with the associated contact zone in Berane, which was open from July 29 to September 30, 2022. Only two entries submitted to the competition after the expiration of the deadline for the submission of entries. To create a new, modern, affirmative space on the territory of the Municipality of Berane. Which will contribute to the education and improvement of the care of endangered animal species.

As well as the overall offer of the city and the mapping of Berane as a unique tourist destination, The Ministry of Ecology, Spatial Planning, and Urbanism has announced once again an international Competition for the conceptual urban-architectural design of the Center for the reception of animals from the CITES list and the ZOO with the associated contact zone in Berane.

The subject of the competition is the creation of a preliminary urban planning and architectural solution for a center for the reception of animals from the CITES list and a zoo with the associated contact zone in Berane on UP-01, UP-03, UP-05, UP-06, and UP-06a, part of UP- 04 and amount UP-066′, which include cadastral plots number 750 and 751, as well as parts of cadastral plots 744, 745, 746, 749, 752, 753, 899, 900, 901, 1614/1, 1614/3 and 1614 /4, CM Donje Luge, Municipality of Berane, in the scope of Amendment of the DUP “Right Bank of River Lim” (“Official Gazette of Montenegro” – municipal regulations no. 18/17). The area covered by the competition is approximately 5.8 ha.

Moreover, The participants in the competition will offer a solution that, with full respect for the natural and morphological features of the space, will propose a new specific content that will adequately treat the river and other found and planned elements of the contact zone.
