Seattle Design Festival: 2024 WHAT IF?

The Seattle Design Festival (SDF), formerly known as Design in Public, celebrates how design enhances life in Seattle. Founded in 2011, SDF fosters connections among designers, civic leaders, business innovators, community organizers, educators, artists, and activists.

Event Overview

The 2024 festival theme, “WHAT IF?”, invites you to explore the transformative power of design. Join us for six days of programming aimed at building equitable and thriving communities through design.

Festival Highlights

  • SDF Block Party @ Lake Union Park
    Kick off the festival on August 17 and 18 with a Block Party featuring large-scale design installations and activities. This free event is open to everyone.
  • Design Mixers
    After the Block Party, join our Design Mixers across various city locations to celebrate interdisciplinary design and foster community.
  • Mainstage
    Enjoy performances, talks, and demonstrations at our expanded Block Party Mainstage. If you can’t attend in person, catch the Virtual Mainstage broadcasts on our YouTube channel on August 20 & 21.
  • Closing Party
    Celebrate the festival’s conclusion on August 22 with a Closing Party. Reflect on the innovative ideas explored and the connections made throughout the week.

  • Design Mixers and Closing Party: SLU, Central District, and Downtown
  • Virtual Mainstage: August 20 & 21 on SDF’s YouTube Channel
