We are seeking a Senior Lecturer in Quantity Surveying to support the School in delivering its commitments to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, research and income generation in the area of construction and civil engineering. The successful applicant will be responsible for the development, promotion, and operation of a postgraduate quantity-surveying degree including the recruitment, administration, and efficient running of the degree programme.
The successful applicant will have industrial experience in quantity surveying and an ability to develop research activity, or a successful track record of research. A BSc and/or MSc in Quantity Surveying (or similar construction related subject) and membership of a relevant professional institution are essential requirements for the role. Teaching experience in Higher Education with the ability to teach across all levels in the area of Quantity Surveying is also required. A PhD in an appropriate subject is desirable.
The School of Engineering has also been successful in the franchising of construction courses overseas, including Quantity Surveying, Facilities Management, Building Surveying and Construction Project Management. The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing the running of these courses, which will require working overseas for short periods of time. Utilising excellent communication skills, the successful applicant will have an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and to be able to develop links and opportunities with industrial partners.
