TRANSITION

TRANSITION

In the Old Streets of Cairo, Begins a New Era, Where Traditional Meets Cyberpunk ..
Many Billboards Are Replaced With Neon Signs, Wires and Cables Everywhere.
And the Old Neibourhood Once Knew Is Starting to Change .

Inspired by the Streets of Tokyo and the Streets of Bulaq Dakror Where I Live, I Designed This as a TRANSITION Between Nowadays and Cyberpunk .

Although Arabic Is Not an Ideographic Language, Most Boards in the Project
Are Vertical to Save Space and to Give Those Tokyo Vibes .
The Font Is Similar to Arabic Kufi Font With Some Variations for Some Boards .

Because My Computer Has Low Specs It Wouldn’t Handle Displacement Maps, So I Went Ahead and Only Used Normal Maps and Roughness and Metalic in Some Materials .

Because I Was Rendering in EEVEE I Had to Fake Emissions by Placing Light Objects in Front of Neon Signs and Lamps in Order to Make It Look as if There Is Global Illumination .

Texturing Was a Challenging Proccess and Because I Had Over 300 Different Textures I Had to Cut Corners by Reducing Textures as Much as I Can
So I Started Reusing Some Texures With Different Nodes to Give Different Looks .

Although the Project Took Me About a Year on and Off, I Was Fortunate Enough
That Blender Made Some Important Updates Like the Seperate
Volumetrics Option For Each Light Object .

Also It Was Made Possible to Put One Collection Into the Other
Which Made a Great Impact on the Overall Workflow .

Working With Extreme Camera I Had Trouble Finding the Right Settings for the Volumetrics .
Long Camera Angels Made the Shots Look Way Darker Because the Density of the Volume Scatter Increases .

The Neon Signs’ Flicker Was Made Using F-curves
Some Were Done Using Noise Effectors and Others Just Cyclic (F-modifiers), Each Sign Has It’s Uniqe Flicker, and the Effect Is Copied to the Light Facing It as I Mentioned Before I Had to Fake Emmisions in EEVEE Using Lights .
