NEST | Salt & pepper shaker

Concept

The concept draws inspiration from the shape and idea of the nest, which envelops, houses and protects the egg inside. The aim is to work with marble through simple and geometric shapes such as the sphere and the toroid, enhancing the material aspect of marble and offering the user a product that gives great flexibility of use.

Nest salt & pepper shaker

Nest is a pair of salt and pepper shakers with a multi-use base entirely made of black and white marble, characterised by a geometric, minimalist and elegant design that can perfectly match any interior due to their material appearance and formal simplicity.

The product

The product consists of a spherical shaker and a matching base with a toroid-like shape, obtained by subtraction of volumes and allowing it to be used as a cutlery rest, condiment container and more.

Nest can be easily filled by turning the shaker in its base and removing the lower part. This allows the outlet holes to be closed, preventing the condiment from flowing out.

Identity & naming

Nest is characterised by a minimalist and elegant identity, expressed through a naming that conveys the idea of the concept, enhances the use of a very precious material such as marble and gives the product a high perceived quality.

Product use

The main intention of the project is to create a product with an extremely simple shape and to give the user a wide flexibility of use. The two combined objects allow use as a shaker, a cutlery rest, a condiment bowl and, if necessary, also as a nutcracker and mortar.

Realisation and assembly

The shaker is realised by the creation of two hemispheres joined by interlocking and fastening. The lid is made of rubber inserted by pressure, which allows easy opening and insertion of the condiment. The base is made of a single element worked by subtraction of volumes, which allows for a single piece and continuity of the marble material.
