geology studio crafts customizable âopen 45 credenzaâ
Â
Open 45 Credenza, an all-in-one listening credenza by Geology Studio, is designed for vinyl record collectors and streaming enthusiasts. Combining functionality with artisanal craftsmanship, this furniture piece was crafted in Los Angeles to address the unique place vinyl records hold in the world of music and their tendency to be tucked away, unreachable in cabinets. Encouraging users to put their oft-hidden vinyl collections to good use, Open 45 Credenza integrates spaces for streamers to neatly dock electronic devices and headphones alongside their records, ready to play with ease.
Â
Maintaining a sleek form to integrate into any space, each unitâs slotted interior allows for movable divider panels, while integrated shelves can be moved to suit each individualâs distinct setup. Additionally, a discreet cord channel runs the length of the wooden unit, enabling efficient cable management and maintaining a clutter-free aesthetic.

encouraging enthusiasts to reconnect with their vinyls
Â
Designer Adam Friedman of Geology Studio reflects on his personal connection to vinyl records, noting: âIâve had a record player since I was a kid, my record collection spans the spectrum from the Ghostbusters soundtrack I got when I was 9 to Zeppelin to Sir Mix-a-Lot and everything in between. Iâve carried this collection around for years and rarely played it.â Determined to help people engage with their music collections, Friedman sought a functional solution which led to the development of the Open 45 Credenza.
Â
Its design emphasizes functionality, with a 45-degree angle showcasing the userâs albums in an organized and accessible arrangement, allowing them to proudly display their collection. The modular platform offers flexibility and the option for customization, with movable divider panels and shelves that can be rearranged to suit each individualâs preferred setup. The credenzaâs base is constructed from metal and typically finished in lacquered black or plated brass, though custom finishes are available to suit individual preferences. The standard wooden top is available in polished walnut finish, and can also be customized to white oak or other woods. âThereâs a high level of precision that goes into this piece because of all of the miter cuts. If your tools arenât lined up perfectly, the end product wonât come together,â says Friedman.
