The Department of Architecture is committed to well-articulated and critical design pedagogies and practices. The successful candidate will contribute to these pedagogies and practices by teaching design studios at the graduate and undergraduate levels as well as lectures and/or seminars related to their scholarly areas of expertise. There are also opportunities to organize domestic and international travel with students and to teach interdisciplinary courses that engage students and faculty in other departments in the College of Design and across campus. Areas of scholarly focus might include: design representation; digital design pedagogies; data visualization; critical inquiry into digital cultures; extended reality (XR); spatial vision; modeling, simulation, and data analytics for design; and digital humanities. In order to address some of the pressing challenges of architectural education and practice, the search committee is particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates engaging with historically disenfranchised positions and communities.
