Description of Post

Applications are invited for an Assistant Lecturer in the area of Quantity Surveying.

It is expected that the lecturer will teach fundamental quantity surveying modules primarily on the 3 year Level 7 BSc in Quantity Surveying and the 4-year ab-initio BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying.

The lecturer may also be required to teach modules in construction economics, building measurement, construction contract law and procurement, construction technology and building services to students on the Level 7 and Level 8 full-time programmes in Construction Management, Fire Safety Engineering, Building Engineering, Civil Engineering and Architectural Technology,  as well as on other part-time courses in the Department of Civil Engineering & Construction.

The delivery will include project-based and blended learning, with online learning by agreement.

The lecturer will join an enthusiastic team engaging in collaborative learning.

Pedagogic staff development is encouraged and cognate qualification progression is also supported.

A significant part of the lectureship responsibility involves research and it is expected that the successful candidate will bring a strong interest and capacity for research in the discipline.

Please note: The postholder will be based at the ATU Donegal, Letterkenny Campus.

Essential Qualifications

  • An Honours degree (2.2 or higher) in Quantity Surveying or similar built environment discipline Level 8 degree as specified in the National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ)] or equivalent.
  • Three years relevant post graduate experience, i.e. 3 years relevant experience having gained the qualifications above.

Salary

Assistant Lecturer New Entrant Salary Scale:   €42,323 – €57,858 (PWT/Fixed Term/Pro-Rata)

Assistant Lecturer New Entrant Part-time Hourly rate: €67.18 (HPAL) Applicants should note that panels may be formed from which future vacancies may be filled.
