About the Role
The workplace tutor will support our growing undergraduate apprenticeship degree in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management and our work placement students. The post holder will work closely with the course and the apprenticeship teams, becoming a key link between on-campus academic staff and the workplace. The primary role of the workplace tutor will be to lead on supporting learners within workplace settings for students undertaking an apprenticeship. They will contribute to the management of the employer/university relationship by developing and managing positive relationships with employers and their apprentices.
The post holder will ideally have prior industrial knowledge in their specialist area (quantity surveying) and provide expert advice and guidance to apprentices and employers regarding developing and assessing skills and behaviours within the workplace. The post holder will be responsible for monitoring and supporting the progress of learners within the workplace. They will analyse a range of data sources to make judgements about learner progress and the quality of the workplace learning environment. They will also be required to produce and contribute to individual and cohort-wide reports for a variety of stakeholders; including employers and university staff and will be directly responsible for the progress and retention of learners. Additionally, the post holder will also work closely with employers to identify any areas of concern and raise these with the appropriate members of the university staff.
The role will include large portions of remote working and therefore will require the post holder to operate autonomously to coordinate their work schedule to ensure that all learners receive their workplace contacts in a timely manner and in line with the University’s minimum standards policies.
