Architectural wunderkind Bjarke Ingels (a 2011 AD Innovator) is set to make his New York City debut in 2016 with W57, an asymmetrical, torquing, pyramid-shaped residential tower on Manhattan’s Far West Side designed by his firm BIG. The building, which centers on a courtyard, isn’t twisting just for fun: Like much of BIG’s work, the structure’s clever form is meant to maximize access to light and air and capitalize on views.
