Celebrating World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development,

Today, engineers and engineering are celebrated during World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development,

as WFEO leads the proposal to proclaim 4 March, the anniversary of WFEO’s founding in 1968,

as World Engineering for Sustainable Development.

Today, engineers celebrate the profession’s important contributions to sustainable development and modern life.

Engineers and engineering are key to addressing the risks of climate change and ensuring sustainable development.

They are essential to the ability to adapt to climate change and to design and develop resilient infrastructure that will withstand the increasing events related to weather.

Such as floods, cyclones and wildfires, especially in developing countries,

Asia, Africa and Small Island Developing States (SIDS), which are most exposed to these risks.

Engineers are needed to design and implement technologies that will achieve the goals set in COP21 to reduce greenhouse gas emissions,

and advance the United Nations sustainable development goals.

The 40th General Conference of UNESCO adopted a resolution declaring 4 March of each year

as World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development in November 2019.

This is the first and only international day to celebrate and recognize the achievements of engineers and engineering, with a celebration planned all over the world.

Universities, professional institutions and companies celebrated the day in their own way.

World Engineering Day 2022

This day reminds us of all the great things that engineers have done to get us where we are today,

it’s a lot when you think about it.

Engineers’ achievements are roads and highways, life-saving devices and medicines,

and transportation – from rockets that take you into space to wheelchairs that give people freedom to roam,

energy alternatives and new ways to collect and store renewable energies.

Engineers deserve more than a day dedicated to them, because they are the future and humanity cannot go on without engineering.

World Environment Day is also an opportunity to celebrate engineering and the contribution of the world’s engineers, to a better and sustainable world.

The day provides an opportunity to highlight the achievements of engineers and engineering in our modern world

and to improve the public on how engineering and technology are central to modern life and sustainable development.

World Federation of Engineering Facilities (WFEO)

It is the union of one hundred national and international members gathered in the largest engineering gathering in the world,

and the fourth of March is the founding day of the World Federation of Engineering Facilities (WFEO).

Having decided to celebrate the International Day of Engineering for Sustainable Development annually from 2020 onwards,

organizations and offices of the United Nations system, and most importantly civil society, schools and universities,

schools and universities, schools and offices, celebrate this International Day

Celebrating World Engineering Day is an opportunity to promote engineering as a profession and highlight how engineering can change the world for the better.

Today is an opportunity to connect with the industrial government in need of engineering capabilities,

world engineers, strategic frameworks and best engineering solutions for sustainable development.

World Engineering Day is also about commenting on engineering as a profession and how it is an opportunity for the world to do better.

In particular, there is a lot that needs to be done to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in target countries for all in all countries.

And there is also a lot to be done.

There is a chance of accessing opportunities and interacting with young people and saying ‘If you want to change the world for the better, be an engineer’.
