4 December، 2023 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Academics and business professionals will come together at the Ableist Cities Symposium to hear personal accounts of personal experiences and collaboratively developed research on accessibility and disability in urban settings.

The University of Melbourne’s Melbourne Disability Institute, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, and Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning are hosting the symposium.

The design of housing, the relationship between inclusive design practice and government policy, and the inclusion of neurodiverse individuals in the design of public places will all be covered in the sessions. Ableist

The symposium, which emphasizes an integrated approach, aims to bring together the domains of politics, policy, and real-world applications in order to address the urgent problems facing the built environment. The convenors hope to start a dialogue that will transform our cities and make them more accessible, equitable, and inclusive for everyone by giving these stories a voice.
