Experience an exclusive after-hours tour of the ‘GRUPPENAUSSTELLUNG’ Act Two showcase of Franz West’s works with Ines Turian, Managing Director of Franz West Werknutzungsgesellschaft, at Hauser & Wirth Somerset. Join us for this unique opportunity!
Attendees can get a special chance to investigate core topics regarding the exhibition of Franz West and talk about this Austrian master’s abundant life-work. Participation is gratis, however, it is necessary to make a reservation in advance. Furthermore, we invite participants to contribute to the benevolent cause of our 2023 – 2024 charity associate, the Bruton Community Library.
About ‘GRUPPENAUSSTELLUNG’
Celebrate Hauser & Wirth’s Swiss roots through a fun-filled display of more than 20 different artists at GRUPPENAUSSTELLUNG. Drawing inspiration from a Kunsthalle, a place to show revolutionary art and discuss current topics among a wide variety of people, this multi-disciplinary exhibition will be open at Hauser & Wirth Somerset until Monday 1 January 2024.
About Franz West
In the late 20th Century, Franz West (1947 – 2012) gained recognition for his interactive installations that blended ‘art objects’ with the outside world through the use of everyday materials. West enabled his audience to actively participate in the artwork, which often made room for chance, accidents, and multiple interpretations. Abandoning the idea of a solitary “creative genius”, West instead focused on creating a connection between artists and the community, challenging the traditional notion of authorship.
About Ines Turian
Ines Turian has served as the Managing Director of Franz West Werknutzungsgesellschaft, owned by the Franz West Foundation, since 2016 alongside Thomas Dalfen. She filled the role of Studio Manager for Franz West between 1997 and 2012, and also edited two vital publications about the artist: ‘Franz West Notes, Writings 1975 – 2011,’ edited with Hans Ulrich Obrist (English edition), and ‘Franz West, Gesammelte Gespraeche und Interviews,’ worked on with Johannes Schlebruegge (German edition). Turian graduated with a degree in Art History from Vienna, Austria and Frankfurt/Main, Germany.
