As a consequence of years of research into the use of carbon fiber and composite materials in architecture. NYXO creates Folio, a novelty in the world of stairs.
Design firm NYXO creates “Folio”, a novelty in the realm of stairs. It was a result of years of research on the use of carbon fiber and composite materials in architecture.
Additionally, its exceptional minimalistic design, built on a foundation of invention, research, and quality, uses fiber composite technology from the aerospace sector.
Moreover, there are no differences between the form, construction, or aesthetic of any of the parts of this spiral staircase. Because they are all integrated into a single module.
However, the whole beautifully develops into a complicated system to articulate a distinctive effect beneath the simplicity of its single component.
A fresh fusion of elegance, structure, and form
Furthermore, according to creators Mirko and Michele Daneluzzo, “Focusing on research on high-performance materials for interior design applications, our design process was to achieve the purpose of creating objects with fewer components which do more.”
Folio’s properties, from lightness to resistance and flexibility, are best expressed by the skillful use of composite fibers in its construction. This allows for new design freedom and the creation of sinuous shapes.
Additionally, the staircase’s force line is a spiral curve in space by the iteration of the monolithic fiber-reinforced composite step.
The pair continues, “Folio is made up of a repeated monolithic step, a module that seamlessly builds the entire spiral staircase.”
Although its module is adaptable, the components’ mutual dependence on one another results in redundancy, which stabilizes the system.
