Global Maritime Industries announced today the signing of a strategic agreement with Aramco Rowan Offshore Drilling Company to build a new offshore drilling rig named “Kingdom 3”.

This step comes within the framework of strengthening the partnership between the two companies and supporting the future of maritime industries in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Details of the agreement

New platform: “Kingdom 3” is the first offshore drilling rig to be built entirely in the Kingdom, representing a historic achievement in the maritime industries sector.

Objectives: The platform aims to enhance the national maritime supply chain, support economic diversification, and raise the Kingdom’s global competitiveness.

Area and capabilities: The platform will be built in the Global Maritime Industries Company’s marine basin in Ras Al Khair Port, which covers an area of ​​12 million square meters.

Wael Al-Jaafari, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Maritime Industries Company, confirmed that the project reflects the company’s commitment to building a reliable national maritime supply chain and supporting the development of the maritime industries sector in accordance with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.

Abdulhamid Al-Dughaither, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aramco Rowan Offshore Drilling Company, indicated that the agreement embodies the commitment of the two companies to support the growth of the maritime sector and enhance national competencies.

Future Capabilities

Production capacity: The marine basin will be able to build 6 drilling rigs, 25 offshore support vessels, and 18 large commercial vessels annually, including chemical, bulk, and crude oil tankers.

Maintenance and repair: 250 ships and 15 offshore drilling rigs will also be maintained and repaired annually.

This agreement is an important step towards strengthening the Kingdom’s position as a global hub for maritime industries, supporting economic diversification, and creating new job opportunities, which contributes to achieving the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
