Overview

The 2025 International Busan Design Award (IBDA) is a globally recognized competition celebrating innovation in industrial design. Organized by Busan Metropolitan City and Design Council Busan, the competition provides a platform for designers worldwide to showcase their work and gain international recognition.

Submission Details

  • Categories:
    • Communication & Service Design: Advertising, graphics, CI, BI, multimedia content, and service innovation design.
    • Product & Environmental Design: Consumer goods, industrial products, public, and architectural design.
    • Craft & Fashion Design: Metal, ceramics, woodwork, textiles, clothing, and accessories.
  • Submission Requirements:
    • Online: Image size A1 (594mm × 841mm), RGB color space, JPG format (max 2 pages).
    • Offline: Actual pieces, 3D models, multimedia content, and product design pieces.

Important Dates

  • Submission Period: February 3, 2025 – May 9, 2025
  • 1st Round Screening: May 16, 2025 – May 19, 2025
  • Winner Announcement (1st Round): May 21, 2025
  • Submission of Actual Pieces (2nd Round): May 28, 2025 – June 1, 2025
  • Final Results Announcement: June 17, 2025
  • Awards Ceremony: June 26, 2025

How to Join

  1. Online Submission: Via the official website (https://adp.dcb.or.kr)
  2. 1st Round Screening: Online assessment by the panel
  3. 2nd Round Submission: Submit actual design pieces for evaluation

Judging Criteria

The jury will evaluate entries based on:

  • Originality: Unique and innovative design concepts.
  • Functionality and Efficiency: Practical and efficient design solutions.
  • Material Use: Appropriateness of materials for design.
  • Aesthetic Quality: A balanced and pleasing aesthetic.
  • Universal Validity: The global applicability and relevance of the design.
