The 2023 Kyoto Global Design Awards night was more than just an incredible awards show; it was a chance to bring together innovative minds from around the globe and honor their commitment, initiatives, aspirations, and visions.

Starting at the Ikebana Museum, the tour took guests through Kyoto’s famous Rokkakudo, the area where Ikebana first appeared. The KGDA winners engaged themselves in nature-inspired design and its sustainable uses in everyday life, all set against the backdrop of nature’s eternal beauty.

After that, the route led to the Kyoto Museum of Crafts and Design at Miyako Messe, where Mr. Thomas Daniell, a professor at Kyoto University and a representative of the Asia Design Communication Platform, called a meeting of the involved designers.

They formally adopted the Global Design Initiative: Kyoto Declaration at this point, pledging their shared commitment to ecologically friendly design principles and their hopes for constructive social change.

The event gained additional significance from the cooperation with KGDA partners, such as Mr. Takao Asai of NPO World Cleanup Day Japan, Kyoto Design Week, and Mr. Isao Kitabayashi. They congratulated and honored the KGDA honorees, and they inspired them to use design to make meaningful contributions.

The Piopoko Lanuge of the Ace Hotel Kyoto served as the scene of the festive finale. The 2023 Kyoto Global Design Awards winners celebrated the event’s triumph and success with a toast, and it served as a forum for finding possible future partners and fostering interdisciplinary exchanges among many areas.

The event was graced by directors from well-known companies, including Formeta Design in Turkey, Studio mk27 in Brazil, 3XN in Denmark, and SOM in the United States.

On the official website, you can relive those memories and commemorate the moments you shared during this group’s design journey. The success of the 2023 Kyoto Global Design Awards Celebration was largely due to the invaluable contributions of the event partners, which included Dsign Something, ADF magazine, Grand Marble, Dari K, C&R Creative Studio, Ace Hotel Kyoto, Ikebana Ikenobo, Miyako Messe, nero magazine, Be-a/Be-a Company, Kid’s Company, Yoshi Kawanishi Photo Office, Rakufudo CO., LTD, and others.
