National Folk Museum Relocation to Sejong City

Home » Competitions » National Folk Museum Relocation to Sejong City

In an effort to create a “local era that is good to live anywhere in Korea,” the National Folk Museum of Korea will be relocated to the Sejong City National Museum Complex. This relocation aligns with the goal of fostering balanced national development and solidifying the museum’s role as a leading representative of local culture, particularly in the southern part of the central region.

The museum’s vision is to evolve into a modern cultural hub where traditional folk ceremonies intersect with contemporary daily life and future technologies. As a major facility within the National Museum Complex, it will boast state-of-the-art spaces and facilities, fitting the demands of the times. Furthermore, the new museum will facilitate exchanges with international folk museums and contribute to a balanced regional distribution of Korea’s rich cultural assets.
