Dubai, July 28, 2025 – Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has kicked off the second phase of its project to upgrade waiting areas at key marine transport stations. This phase covers five major stations: Al Fahidi, Baniyas, Al Seef, Sheikh Zayed Road, and Bluewaters, as part of a broader plan to improve infrastructure and offer a more comfortable and organized experience for users.

A Design That Honors Heritage and Embraces the Present

The upgraded stations reflect a thoughtful balance between traditional aesthetics and modern needs. Inspired by the design of the iconic wooden “abra” boats, the new architectural elements evoke Dubai’s maritime heritage. At the same time, the facilities now include advanced air-conditioning systems and dedicated spaces for people of determination, ensuring a safe and comfortable waiting experience for all.

Connecting Communities and Expanding Access

This initiative goes beyond aesthetics. It’s about creating better links between communities across the city. The upgraded stations are strategically located near residential neighborhoods and urban development projects. They also integrate with other modes of public transport—including metro, buses, and trams—making it easier for residents and visitors to move around without relying on private cars.
