Raincoast Candles & Home Fragrance Branding and Packaging Design
Inspired by the understated and refined luxury found in France, the Joie de Vivre home fragrance collection by Raincoast emanates the fragrant blossoms, enveloping musks, tangy citrus and woodsy notes of a dreamy romance. The packaging of candles and aromatherapy products encapsulates the decadent details of an abundant garden-scape.
In celebration of Raincoast’s Pacific Northwest provenance, the design preserves the brand’s sense of ethereal flow only achieved though a connection with nature, while at the same time exploring a sense of French luxe through the tactility of an uncoated Bockingford stock and embellished illustrations.
Soft, muted coloured metallic pantones take on a jewel-like effect on the uncoated paper stock. The textured surface created by the imprint of woolen felt appeals to the richness of both luxury and nature. The embossed logo references vintage French perfume or apothecary labels — the signifying capstone detail of quality. A soothing flood of colour coats the uncoated textured stock on the side panels to strategically create dimension to the box design and aids in distinguishing the scent profiles on shelf.
The packaging is an opportunity to create moments of gifting to oneself in the retail experience and then again in the comfort of their own home. Copywriting was focused on the North American market who dreams of a little taste of French decadence within their everyday lives.
