RIBA Royal Gold Medal: Yasmeen Lari

The Practice Space at 66 Portland Place showcases recent works by architecture practices around the globe, as well as the RIBA Royal Gold Medal and the RIBA President’s Medals. It is a space dedicated to achievement and innovation, with an ambitious program of displays throughout the year.

12 June to 26 August 2023

This display celebrates this year’s RIBA Royal Gold medallist, Yasmeen Lari. Pakistan’s first female architect, Lari is Co-Founder and CEO of the Heritage Foundation of Pakistan. She is an author, architectural historian, conservationist, philanthropist, and humanitarian.

Lari’s namesake architectural firm designed some of the most iconic projects in Pakistan until Lari retired in 2000 to focus on heritage conservation and humanitarian architecture. The display highlights her latest projects, featuring zero carbon footprint concepts drawn from vernacular traditions.
