The Texas Society of Architects (TxA) Design Awards recognize outstanding architectural and urban design projects by architects practicing in Texas. This prestigious competition aims to promote public interest in design excellence while highlighting the vital role architects play in shaping communities across the state.

The TxA Design Awards celebrate a wide range of architectural and urban projects, including:

Entry Guidelines

Submissions should showcase:

  • Impact on Users & Communities – How does the design improve daily life?
  • Effectiveness in Meeting Client Goals – Does it achieve the intended vision?
  • Sustainability & Energy Efficiency – How does the project minimize environmental impact?
  • Visual & Functional Appropriateness – Does the design fit its context and purpose?

Submission Process:
All entries must be submitted through Submittable. Full guidelines and eligibility criteria are available via the platform.

Participants must complete the Common App for Design Excellence, detailing how their project aligns with sustainability, resilience, and inclusiveness principles.

  • All submissions must include high-resolution images, drawings, and detailed descriptions of the project.

Judging Panel

The 2025 Design Award Jury consists of leading architects from across the country, including:

  • Germane Barnes – Studio Barnes, Miami
  • Barbara Bestor, FAIA – Bestor Architecture, Los Angeles
  • Tom Kundig, FAIA – Olson Kundig Architects, Seattle

The jury evaluates submissions based on design quality, innovation, sustainability, and impact.
