Also known as the Culture CBD Modern Technology Experience Center, this cutting-edge museum promises to be a beacon of innovation and discovery in the heart of Shaanxi province. Drawing inspiration from the natural landscape of rivers and mountains, as well as the rich heritage of Xi’an, the Museum of Technology boasts a distinctive undulating form that captures the imagination. Clad in vertical metal slats and glass fibre-reinforced concrete, the building’s fluid silhouette pays homage to the ancient origins of the city while signaling a bold step towards the future of architecture.

“The Xi’an museum will be an architecture open to everybody, designed to activate a process of urban regeneration in the area and involve a wide audience – from technology enthusiasts to children and students,” explains Stefano Boeri, the studio’s founder. “A place of study, in-depth analysis, research, and technological innovation, in the heart of one of the most important cities in Chinese history.”

Bridging Past and Future: A Hub of Exploration and Inspiration

Situated within a sequence of public spaces that link to an urban park and city streets, the Museum of Technology is poised to become a dynamic nexus of activity and exploration. Its green rooftop terraces, accessible to visitors, offer panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and serve as vibrant gathering spaces for events and exhibitions.

Inside, the museum features four main exhibition spaces, alongside temporary exhibits and commercial areas. From interactive digital artworks to immersive experiences, the museum promises to captivate visitors of all ages and backgrounds. “In addition to involvement and interaction with the public, the project paid particular attention to the use of multimedia and digital contents and their dissemination,” notes studio partner Yibo Xu. “The museum will play an important role in shaping future exhibition scenarios and imagining new ways of producing and exhibiting art.”
