Overview

The Daekyo International Sculpture Symposium is the only sculpture symposium in South Korea dedicated to university students. Now in its 26th edition, it brings together talented emerging sculptors from around the world for a collaborative residency and exhibition program.

Held at Chung-Ang University, the symposium offers selected participants a chance to live, work, and exchange ideas with fellow artists while experiencing South Korean culture. All foreign artists will receive a scholarship of US $3,000, round-trip airfare, accommodation, meals, materials, and the opportunity to exhibit their work in Seoul.

The application deadline for the Daekyo International Sculpture Symposium is May 30, 2025, and the symposium runs from July 11 to July 29, followed by a group exhibition in August.

Submission Details

To apply:

  1. Download and fill out the “2025 Application Form”.
  2. Submit the completed form to: wycf2007@actionfordream.org.
  3. Proof of current education level is required (student ID or enrollment certificate).

Artwork Requirements:

  • Size: Within 1.5m in all dimensions.
  • Material: Any sculptural medium is accepted.
  • Theme: No specific theme required.

How to Join Daekyo International Sculpture Symposium

  4. Await selection notification to prepare for travel and residency.

Judging Criteria

Artists will be selected based on:

  • Artistic quality and originality of previous work.
  • Potential for growth and contribution to the symposium.
  • Ability to collaborate and share techniques in an international setting.
  • Relevance of artistic goals to the nature of the residency.
