Antoni Gaudí & Álvaro Siza Vieira –
Newspaper design
This project is about two well-known architects, Antoni Gaudí and Álvaro Siza Vieira, that have different ways of doing there work. Antoni Gaudí is best known for his Catalan Modernism architectural style in the 19th and 20th century, and his inspiration was the Neo-Gothic and organic styles. In the other hand Siza Vieira is one of the leading architects of the twentieth century and one of the names to which Portugal is associated abroad, assuming a modernist and avant-garde perspective, recognizable in its architectural forms and senses.
In this context two newspapers were developed with the aim of showing how architecture can influence their design. In the case of the Gaudí newspaper, it assumes an organization allied to its works, thus challenging some of the fundamental rules, such as its buildings, presenting some irreverence and provocation. The Siza's newspaper is presented with greater organization and harmony, privileging empty spaces and all the surrounding space, just as Siza Vieira does in her projects. Allied to this organization, the object is also developed taking into account the contemporary and innovation, and its relationship with nature.
