Hays are working in partnership with the estates function of UK Parliament, in seeking a Design Manager (Architecture) to join the House of Commons team.
The Estate consists of around 14 main buildings ranging from the historic Palace of Westminster to the modern Portcullis House, which is located within a UNESCO World Heritage site, and spans 4 conservation areas within central London.
The Design Authority manages the lifecycle of the buildings and provides consultative guidance to various in-house stakeholders such as project delivery, maintenance, key colleagues and various other external stakeholders.
They are seeking an individual with a varied skill set of proven experience in delivering design management assurance on multiple projects, within a complex environment, against the RIBA Plan of Works.
Within the role you will liaise and co-ordinate with the key stakeholders and end users, within the Design Authority and wider estate, ensuring the project requirements and outcomes are defined and accounted. Crucially the role is to understand and deliver on the strategic objectives, their benefits which are set within the outline business case, and track these through to project completion. You will ensure design-intent, technical assurance, effective coordination, and implementing change control as and when is required. The post will report to the Head of Design Management and Requirements
Key criteria include:
An ARB registered architect and fellow or member of RIBA or equivalent
Substantial experience of Design Management and assurance processes.
Working with key technical stakeholders, operators, and end users, as the informed client, to define the project requirements and brief.
Developing feasibility studies.
Transferable skills are also essential to the role and will play a major part in the recruitment process. Such as high levels of organisation, working under pressure with competing priorities, problem-solving, and crucially calm and clear communication ability within a complex organisational structure.
The role will be offered on a hybrid basis. Flexible working patterns are also not discouraged. The office is based in SW1 close to Westminster, and you will be regularly expected to attend site meetings.

Salary is £56,180 to £66,497. with the final offered figure depending on experience and skill set.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain government security clearance, for which the on-boarding team will offer assistance upon job-offer. The role is available for UK nationals only.
