Following continued growth, we have an opportunity for a Lecturer to join us to deliver our portfolio of professionally accredited programmes and contribute to our industry focused research activity.
You’ll join our accomplished and varied team, bringing expertise and experience in forward thinking pedagogies in Design Studio, Construction Technology and/or Professional Studies.
Foresight and futures thinking is part of the unique heritage of the Salford Laboratory of Architecture, through the University’s origins as a Royal Technical Institute.
Working as part of our team you will develop links with practice and industry to innovate in research-led teaching and create opportunities for our students to participate in live projects.
You will be an integral part of pioneering innovative pedagogies, engaging with the contemporary issues of space to deliver unique student experiences that maximise accessibility, enrich the profession and advance architectonic understanding and experimentation.
Working with us, you’ll help Salford Laboratory of Architecture deliver 5 programmes;
- BSc Architecture (ARB Part 1, RIBA)
- Arch (ARB Part 2, RIBA course candidate status)
- BSc Architectural Design and Technology (CIAT)
- BSc Architectural Engineering
- BSc Interior Architecture
Expertise and Experience
We are welcoming applications now, and are especially keen to hear from you if you have:
- PhD, ARB/RIBA Part 3 or equivalent
- Experience of teaching in Design Studio, Professional Studies and/ or Construction Technologies in Architecture.
- Understanding of the architectural PSRB context for higher education (ARB, RIBA, CIAT), experience of course leadership and curriculum development in response to prevailing agendas within the profession.
- FHEA Fellow, PGCert in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education or commitment to achieve this within 2 years of appointment.
- Experience in design research and design thinking, especially in applied and experimental practice, practical fabrication, prototyping and testing.
- Experience initiating and leading development and delivery of taught programmes, through innovative and engaging teaching delivery and learning support.
- Understanding the changing professional context for architecture, potential avenues for future practice and experience of developing innovative learning experiences to support this.
- Knowledge and experience of traditional and advanced and experimental construction technologies, novel materials and fabrication techniques.
