The Welsh School of Architecture of Cardiff University is currently seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to join our team and work with Prof Zhiwen Luo on a recently funded large-scale AHRC Green Transition Ecosystems project focusing on The Isle of Anglesey/Ynys Môn in North Wales. The project aims to create a Community Open Map Platform (COMP) that will bring together multiple layers of spatial information to give a social, environmental, cultural and economic picture of what is happening in a neighbourhood, area, local authority, region or nation. This PDRA post will focus on deriving environmental map for the region and collaborate with the wider research team on generating the social and culture maps.
The ideal PDRA candidate will hold a PhD (or nearing completion/submission) in a relevant subject area such as physical geography, environmental engineering, and science, architectural science, planning, or urban science. They will have a strong background in environmental sensing and mapping research on environment-health nexus (in particular (personal) heat and/or air pollution exposure both indoors and outdoors). They will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

This full-time position (35 hours per week) is available from Dec 2023 and is fixed term for 15 months. Applications for a flexible working or job share arrangements will also be considered.
