Architecture and Earth – Student Workshop
We always aim to incorporate different creative approaches and fresh perspectives into our development process. This is why we are organizing an international summer workshop for architecture students. Together we will build a bench or a wall from rammed earth. During the rest of the week, we will explore the different possibilities offered by a simple corner wall module we are developing. We will combine and assemble the modules, analyze their interactions and combinations, and then test them in different theoretical residential projects, such as a single-family home, a duplex, a terraced house, and so on. Students will also have the opportunity to learn the process of making ceramic tiles using the raku technique, meet new friends, and cool off after a long day in the nearby Krka River.
Furthermore, The workshop will take place from the 17th to the 23rd of July at the Centre for Building with Earth in Dobrava pri Škocjanu. It will be led by Matevž Granda and Patrik Benedičič. Accommodations for the attendees will be organized in the renovated barn on the property. However, travel to and from Dobrava must be organized by the attendees themselves.
