BA Collective: LARGE TECH OFFICE

BA Collective tech office design, recognized as the 2023 Best of Year Winner for Large Tech Office, stands as a testament to innovation and creativity in architectural design. Spanning an impressive 37,000 square feet in Los Angeles, this development, helmed by Hall of Famer Hagy Belzberg’s studio, offers a unique blend of functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability tailored to the needs of the tech and creative industries.

Embracing Nature and Functionality

One of the primary directives in the creation of this tech office was to incorporate elements of nature and functionality seamlessly into the design. With an emphasis on fresh air, sunshine, and an exterior program, BA Collective aimed to provide occupants with an environment conducive to productivity, creativity, and well-being.

Breaking Boundaries with Off-Centered Voids

A notable challenge in designing this space was its massive, cubelike proportions. To address this challenge, the architects employed the concept of off-centered voids, strategically placed throughout the office. These voids, along with a shared central courtyard, effectively divide the space into two double-height blocks of office areas, while also providing ample access to outdoor areas such as terraces and a side yard.

Curves and Fluidity: A Design Ethos

Throughout the office, a theme of curves and fluidity emerges, adding a sense of dynamism and movement to the space. Nowhere is this more evident than in the design of the central staircase, which spirals gracefully, inviting occupants to ascend and descend with ease. This fluidity not only enhances the visual appeal of the office but also promotes a sense of connectivity and interaction among employees.

Innovative Storage Solutions: A Visual Delight

In addition to its striking architectural features, the tech office also boasts innovative storage solutions that double as sculptural elements. In the lobby, for example, a series of wall racks hidden between fins of white oak provide space to hang bicycles. Each mechanism is mounted at a slightly different height from its neighbor, creating a subtle wave effect that adds visual interest to the space.

Bringing the Outdoors In

Central to BA Collective’s design philosophy is the idea of bringing the outdoors inside. Natural light floods the office, creating a bright and uplifting atmosphere, while large windows offer views of the surrounding landscape. This connection to nature not only enhances the aesthetic appeal of the space but also contributes to the well-being and productivity of its occupants.

Setting a New Standard for Workplace Environments

In conclusion, BA Collective’s innovative tech office design sets a new standard for workplace environments, blending cutting-edge design principles with functionality, sustainability, and a deep respect for nature. By embracing off-centered voids, fluid curves, and innovative storage solutions, this space transcends conventional office design, offering occupants a truly inspiring and dynamic work environment.
