From May 1 to July 14, 2025, a Ukrainian Intercity train will carry a striking new Barbara Kruger installation titled Untitled (Another Again). Partnering with Ukrainian Railways and RIBBON International, Kruger’s work turns the train into a mobile canvas of bold typography—blending art, activism, and wartime solidarity.
Key Details:-
- Route: Launches at Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi Railway Station, traveling to Lviv, Kharkiv, and Kramatorsk.
- Collaborators: Curated by Masha Isserlis, produced with RIBBON International.
- Symbolism: Echoes Ukraine’s historic agit-trains of the 1920s, merging art with public space.

Why This Installation Matters:-
Against Ukraine’s closed airspace and damaged infrastructure, railways have become lifelines—carrying civilians, aid, and now, Kruger’s messages of endurance. The bilingual text (Ukrainian and English) underscores cultural sovereignty amid ongoing threats.
Barbara Kruger’s Message: “Another Again:-
Kruger’s signature bold typography delivers a dual-language refrain:
- Ukrainian: “Інший знову”
- English: “Another Again”
This cyclical phrasing mirrors Ukraine’s resilience, while nodding to Soviet-era agit-trains that spread revolutionary art.

Railways: The Arteries of Cultural Resistance:-
In Ukraine, where bridges and airports are bombed daily, railways remain a testament to collective will. Since the 19th century, trains in Ukraine have been vital connectors between East and West. Today, amid the Russian invasion, they reaffirm their role as vessels of resilience. Kruger’s choice of the train as her medium is not just practical (ensuring the work is seen across multiple regions) but also symbolic—turning this mode of transport into a moving monument honoring those who sustain life amid destruction.
Art in Motion: The Agit-Train Legacy:-
In a world where war grinds cities and memory into dust, art transforms from mere aesthetic expression into a weapon of resistance—a tool to redefine reality and reject silence. Barbara Kruger’s work on a Ukrainian train is not just an art installation; it is a celebration of life in the face of death. The train, which carries civilians, the wounded, and supplies, now also carries words that remind the world that Ukraine is not just a warzone but a land that breathes art and makes history.
Kruger, known for using art as a tool to expose power and domination, chooses here to be a voice for those being silenced. Her signature white and red text on a black background—her iconic color scheme—becomes slogans visible from miles away, as if declaring: “Look, we are here, and we will not disappear.”
