Vastukul (Government of India recognized startup is an innovative platform for architecture, design, and planning education, targeted at learners globally) is organizing a lecture with MVRDV World’s Most Innovative Company in Architecture & Design and numerous International award Winners MVRDV based in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

In this 2.5 – 3 hours Live masterclass, MVRDV climate experts elaborates possible holistic approaches towards building an optimistic collective future. They not only make sustainable designs but also make people believe about optimistic futures through special concepts that make people wonder.
A variety of recent built and design projects of MVRDV will illustrate how creative, multi-layered and systemic design thinking can stimulate and benefit innovation in sustainable building technologies.

The masterclass will be organized in 4 main parts:

Firstly, a general introduction to the sustainability methodology of MVRDV and MVRDV’s approach to sustainability, resilience and working with the Sustainable Development Goals.
Secondly, Kristina Knauf will elaborate how large-scale thinking can foster innovative, scalable building methods by showcasing relevant projects of MVRDV.
Thirdly, Arjen Ketting will illustrate how MVRDV develops and designs innovative building solutions.
These sessions will be followed by a collective Q&A. To expand this interactive part, participants are invited to interact and ask questions during the entire masterclass.

About the Speakers

Kristina Knauf
Architect | MVRDV
Kristina Knauf co-leads MVRDV’s climate group and is involved in the sustainability aspects in all of MVRDV’s projects. Before, she shaped MVRDV project processes for the Urban Studio from early acquisition stages to delivery, driving storyline, design, and the internal coordination of project development through different design phases. With a particular dedication to urbanism and resilience, Knauf champions the development of innovative methods, tools, and products that help to future-proof MVRDV’s office vision. Knauf maintains an active role in the architectural discipline, lecturing widely, including at the 2014 Venice Biennale.

Arjen Ketting
Architect | BREEAM expert
Arjen Ketting co-leads MVRDV’s climate group and is involved in the sustainability aspects in all of MVRDV’s projects. He has played an integral role in the development of the façade, and conducting aesthetic supervision during the execution of this groundbreaking Rotterdam project.
His broader role within the office is BREEAM assessor. Ketting applies his knowledge in a wide range of projects, from single-family housing, to urban plans, and from concept phase to execution, challenging design teams to integrate sustainable design practice in every stage and facet of their design concepts.
